Training and Mentoring Next-Generation Journalists and Sales Executives
Training for current and prospective employees is a priority at Hearst-Argyle stations.
Among other efforts, we co-produce with other station groups both a
Producer Academy and a Sales Academy to train, respectively, news
producers and television and Web sales professionals.
In 2006, we announced a student news symposium with North Carolina A&T, more
about which can be learned from this news report from our WXII-TV,
Greensboro/Winston-Salem.
Hearst-Argyle also is a sponsor of The Emma L. Bowen Foundation, on whose
Board Hearst-Argyle CEO David Barrett serves. The Foundation, created in 1989
to prepare minority youth for careers in the media industry, enables students to work
for partner companies during summers and school breaks, from the summer following
their junior year in high school until they graduate from college.
Many of our stations also sponsor local internship programs, to help develop future
generations of media professionals.
