Hearst-Argyle's television and radio stations have been recognized at the local, state and national
levels for their citizenship. In recent years, our stations' efforts related to family services, education,
community safety and other areas have earned recognition from the U.S. Congressional Coalition
on Adoption, Partnership for a Drug-Free Florida, Partnership for a Drug-Free America, the University
of Hawaii College of Education, Oklahoma Department of Human Services, Crime Stoppers International,
the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the National Association of Consumer Advocates, among
other organizations.
Hearst-Argyle stations also sponsor the annual Jefferson Awards, administered by the American Institute for
Public Service, to recognize exemplary community service.
Among the most coveted honors given to media organizations for community service is the Service to
America Award, presented annually since 1999 by the National Association of Broadcasters Education
Foundation (NABEF). The annual celebration is part of the organization's Service to America Summit
and recognizes outstanding community service by local broadcasters. Since 1999 Hearst-Argyle stations have been honored multiple times by NABEF for various community service efforts.
Hearst-Argyle's stations also are regularly honored for their journalistic accomplishments.
